Scratches found on IIT-BHU victim’s private parts: Doctor complains in court | Latest India News

On Friday, a government doctor told a court hearing that he found scratch marks on the private body parts of a sexual assault victim from IIT BHU.

Deputy district government solicitor Manoj Gupta said that Dr Anamika Singh, who examined the victim, recorded her statement before the fast-track court of Justice Kuldeep Singh.

In her statement, the doctor said she found no signs of internal injuries. However, she found some scratches on the outside, PTI reported.

Gupta said the doctor assumed that rape-related violence could not be ruled out.

The court set January 20 as the next hearing date in the case that sparked national outrage.

The victim is a student of the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology – Banaras Hindu University. She was leaving the hostel with a friend on the night of November 1, 2023, when she was accosted by three men riding a motorcycle. They forced her to take off her clothes and gang raped her.

The police arrested three accused – Kunal Pandey, Anand alias Abhishek Chauhan and Saksham Patel.

A case was registered under IPC Section 354 (assault or use of criminal force on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and under the provisions of the Information Technology Act at the Lanka Police Station. Later, a charge of gang rape was added to the FIR.

A similar incident occurred at Anna University in Chennai

In a similar case at Anna University in Chennai, a second-year engineering student experienced sexual harassment on campus. The second-year college student was talking to her friend, who is a third-year student, behind the building on December 23 around 8 p.m., when the defendant threatened her. First, he attacked a student and then sexually harassed a female student.

The student filed a police complaint on December 24 at Kotturpuram All Women’s Police Station. “The victim called 100 (police helpline) and our police went to the university and arrested her on December 25,” Arun, commissioner of Greater Chennai Corporation, told reporters.
