FORECAST

Have a nice weekend! There is plenty to talk about in the near future given the noticeable changes that will emerge on Sunday and especially early next week. Here are the latest:

THIS WEEKEND

After a cool morning, there will be plenty of sunshine on Saturday, allowing high temperatures to climb into the mid-60s.

Don’t get used to it though, as another batch of arctic air will move into south central Texas this evening. Lows drop to the upper 20s and low 30s by Sunday’s sunrise, and gusty north winds make you *feel* like the teens and 20s at the start of the day.

We’ll still see plenty of sunshine tomorrow, but Sunday afternoon high temperatures will be around 40 degrees and about 20 degrees cooler.

Noticeable changes will appear on Sunday.

HARD FREEZE ON MONDAY MORNING, FROST MILK IN MARCH

With clear skies, temperatures will drop on Sunday evening and heavy frosts are expected on Monday morning.

Expect widespread lows in the mid-20s, with even some higher values possible in the Hill Country. Temperatures in the teens can be expected across much of the area before sunrise.

For March, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. please dress very warmly, with temperatures above 30 degrees throughout the event and increasing cloud cover in the late morning.

Cold conditions are expected in MLK on Monday in March.

WINTER MIX CHANCES INCREASE BY MONDAY NIGHT

Although moisture will be limited and impacts are likely to be relatively minor, a light wintry mix is possible from Monday evening through 1 p.m. Tuesday.

The chances right now are a light mix of rain, sleet, freezing rain and a few snowflakes, but keep in mind that accumulations seem limited. Icing up to approximately 0.1 inch is possible on elevated surfaces (bridges, overpasses, road signs, decks) with some snow accumulation. Any rainfall will end by early afternoon on Tuesday.

There is uncertainty as to the intensity and type of rainfall exactly that will fall there as moisture could potentially be drawn southeast away from us. We will keep you updated with exact details in the next 24-48 hours.

A wintry mix is still possible in places Monday evening through Tuesday lunchtime.

MORE COLD MORNINGS

Precipitation will taper off by Tuesday afternoon, but heavy frosts will continue through Wednesday morning. You’ll want to make sure people, pets, plants and pipes are prepared before the weekend is over.

More updates coming soon! Until then, have a nice and safe weekend.

7-day forecast for 18/01/25.
