A Taiwanese Air Force officer is caught in a jet engine and dies

A Taiwanese Air Force officer was killed when he was inhaled by the engine of an F-CK-1 fighter at Ching Chuan Kang Air Force Base in Taichung, Taiwan.

The Taiwan Air Force Command announced in a press release that the tragic accident occurred on the morning of January 21, 2025.

According to local reports, a Ching-kuo indigenous defense fighter (IDF – AIDC F-CK-1 Ching-kuo) landed at the air base, and a 41-year-old senior sergeant, identified only as Hu, conducted a final routine inspection of the plane just before the jet’s engines were shut down.

For “unknown reasons,” Hu was sucked into the fighter’s right engine.

Colleagues managed to quickly transport Hu to the hospital, but she was later pronounced dead around 11:40 a.m. local time.

PTS Taiwan News reported that Ching Chuan Kang Air Force Base has suspended indigenous fighter launches and is investigating the accident.
