Billy Waters makes his first sporting start

The waters joined the city of Halifax On transfer deadline day in August after a frustrating time at Wrexham.

The striker signed with Barrow in 2023 but managed just eight appearances for the club in all competitions.

After a loan spell at Doncaster Rovers, Wrexham allowed Waters to return to Halifax and find some form of goalkeeping in the National League.

Waters achieved five goals in 18 games before returning to Wrexham, only returning to finalize the formalities of his contract.

Oldham Athletic were keen to sign the waters permanently, finally finishing their Wrexham run.

On Saturday, Waters made his first start for the Latics as he appeared in the 1-1 draw at Gateshead.

Woda managed 73 minutes, but could not find the net and picked up a yellow card in the first half.

It’s early days at Oldham and we have no doubt he will find the net in the National League once he settles in.

Waters works with ex-Wrexham Striker

Waters’ first start offered the oddity of his strike partner being another former Wrexham striker.

Mike Fondop joined Waters in attack and found the net in the first half with another goal.

Fondop has now scored 11 times this season at Oldham and will be looking to wreak havoc along with the waters.

Fondop joined Wrexham from Guiseley in 2018, having been around a number of non-league clubs.

The Cameroonian striker scored six times in 26 games for Wrexham but left the club after just over a year.

Initially looking like a cult hero, Fondop’s time at Wrexham didn’t quite go to plan.

Now 31, Fondop appears to have found a home in Oldham – and Waters will be looking to do the same with a move to Boundary Park.

Oldham are still in the National League Play-Off and we could yet see Fondop and Waters shoot LATICS for promotion this season.

We saw Sam Dalby and Louis Moult are working with Dundee United And now we will see Fondop and Waters together in another All-Ex-Wrexham strike pairing.
