Girls volleyball: Statement of wins, upset after Monday’s postseason games

The public postseason is underway for the NJSIAA girls volleyball state tournament.

Take a look below at the breakdown of wins, upsets and more from Monday’s action.

North Jersey 1

7-Fort Lee moved up to 10-Garfield, but it didn’t come easy. In each of the three sets, both teams scored over 20 points. Fort Lee lost the first goal but recovered with a score of 22-25, 25-20, 25-20.

North Jersey 2

3-Rutherford scored just seven points in both sets in a victory over 14-Caldwell in the N2G1 bracket. Hot on the heels of winning the Bergen Invitational last weekend, the Bulldogs saw Mackenzie Vellis post 12 kills and six digs to Cate Finan’s 17 assists.

1-Secaucus held 16-Whippany Park to single digits in every set after Monday’s 25-5, 25-8 victory in the N2G1 tournament. The Patriots scored 13 aces, including four each from Olivia Jasiczek and Avalyn Torres.

Middle tee

On Monday, 10-Dayton defeated 7-Technology in straight sets in the CJG1 bracket. Dayton was opposed to single-digit scoring in each set. Dayton was led by four kills from Amiel Dillard and three kills from Sari Racusina. They also saw Jocelyn Peralta score seven aces.

2-New Providence scored a total of 13 points against 15-Arts in a straight-set victory in the opening round of the CJG1 tournament.

South Jersey

10-Point Pleasant defeated 7-Bound Brook in the first round of the SJG1 bracket, doing so in straight sets thanks to multiple kills from Lucia Robinson, Brennan Pritchard and Celia Frizzell.

9-Ocean City defeated 8-Central Regional in straight sets in the opening round of SJG3 in two hard-fought frames. The final result was 26:24, 25:22
