Kannada director Guruprasad found dead in Bengaluru apartment in suspected suicide

Bengaluru: In a suspected suicide, Kannada director Guruprasad (52) was found hanging in his apartment on the outskirts of the city on Sunday in a state of decomposition. The incident took place in the premises of Madanayakanahalli police station.

According to police sources, the body was found in a decomposed state, hanging from the ceiling fan in the apartment, and neighbors alerted the police after an unpleasant odor was emanating from the house, PTI reported. The body was moved for autopsy.

“It was said that filmmaker Guruprasad was upset about something, about his film or some other matter. We heard he was struggling financially… Five to six days ago, neighbors saw him come to this house and apparently he hasn’t come out since. It appears he hanged himself five to six days ago and died,” said CK Baba, Superintendent of Police (SP), Bengaluru Rural. Briefing reporters, he said, “…after seeing the body, we have registered a case and will investigate it.”
Guruprasad was known for his films ‘Mata’ and ‘Yeddelu Manjunatha’, among others.
