City of Ocala terminating Fourth of July drone show contract with Sky Elements, company involved in Orlando drone show accident

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – Ocala city officials are moving on from the drone company they contracted to handle their Fourth of July celebrations.

During Tuesday night’s meeting, city council members voted to terminate a contract with Sky Slements that would have paid the company $300,000 for two Fourth of July drone shows.

Last month, a child was injured during a performance in Orlando by drones operated by the same company.

The city authorities have not yet decided what they will do with this year’s Fourth of July celebration.
